Company Profile
The Toepfer Group was founded by Roy Toepfer in October, 1976. With little more than a rowboat and cleaning supplies, Roy turned his fledgling startup into one of the largest marine service companies on the Mississippi River.

1976
Began Gas Freeing of Tank Barges and Topside Repairs in New Orleans.
1980
Added dry dock for sandblasting, painting, and repairs for Tank Barges.
1990
Opened Gas Freeing and Topside Repairs in Donaldsonville, LA.
1991
Purchased Gas Freeing and Repair Yard in Westwego, LA.
1998
Opened Repair Yard in Hahnville, LA with 2000 Ton Syncrolift.
2001
Purchased Gas Free and Repair Yard in Baton Rouge, LA.
Where We Deliver

New Orleans is widely known as the "Crescent City". The Mile 104 facility is located at the starting turn of this Crescent. Mile 104 specializes in repairing diesel vessels that service the shallow Gulf of Mexico waters.

The Mile 125 facility is located in Hahnville, Louisiana. The facility's deep river bank allows simultaneous service of several vessels. Mile 125 also boasts a large dry dock that contains eight Rolls-Royce engines, each capable of lifting up to 275 tons.

The Mile 183 facility is located in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Mile 183 features an oxidation unit that is capable of handling large gas volumes. The oxidation unit's large capacity allows the facility to simultaneously service multiple vessels.

Who's Responsible
Owner
Roy Toepfer and his wife Brenda are avid travelers. If Roy isn't traveling and enjoying fine foods, he can probably be found at his favorite restaurant or Mississippi home.

A product of a blue collar home located near the Industrial Canal in New Orleans, Roy has spent his life working hard for his family. Before founding The Toepfer Group, Roy spent over twenty years working in various industrial and management positions at Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans.
President
Ray Greenwell is enjoying his newly appointed title as grandfather. Ray also enjoys playing tennis near his home in Covington, LA, or dining out with his wife Annelle.

A former member of the United States Air Force, Ray graduated from the University of Louisville with degrees in Psychology and Economics. Before joining The Toepfer Group in 1994, Ray held the position of Vice-President at one of the largest barge transportation companies on the Mississippi River. Ray regularly represents The Toepfer Group at many charitable events, such as the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, and Volunteers of America.

If he isn't in the office, Mark Toepfer might be playing catch with his grandson Cody, or enjoying a movie with his wife Cheryl. In his spare time, Mark enjoys reading and exercising at the gym.

Mark graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Business Management. One of the most steadfast and hardest working employees at The Toepfer Group, Mark has helped expand the Mile 183 facility into one of our most successful yards. Mark is routinely honored with appointments as an expert advisor to the Environmental Protection Agency and with selections to various Industrial Organizations.
Vice-President
If Matt Toepfer can't grill it, his son Jason, who's a master chef, can create it. Matt can usually be found enjoying time with his wife Debbie and their two dogs, Sadey and Whitey.

Matt has over thirty hard earned years working for The Toepfer Group. He has successfully managed several of our facilities, including the bulk of our operations on the East and West Banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. Several years ago Matt was honored for his brave rescue of a tugboat crew whose boat was sinking midstream in the Mississippi.
Compliance Officer
Chris Scott has a prowess for hunting large game across the United States. His office is a testament to his hunting skill, as it contains many trophies from past hunting trips.

For over thirty years, Chris has been responsible for regulatory compliance at The Toepfer Group. He has been integral to the successful growth of the company. In addition to Chris' official capacity as Compliance Officer, he also serves as Vice-President of Marine Chemists of Louisiana LLC.
